calling all American Idol fans! It may only be a few weeks since Noah Thompson was crowned the 2022 winner but it doesn’t mean other fan favorites from the ABC singing competition show aren’t working on new projects. As it turns out, American Idol judge Luke Bryan has been in the studio creating new music and he teased its release with an exciting social media announcement.

That’s right — the country music superstar is dropping a new song just in time for July 4th weekend! He revealed the news on Instagram by sharing the cover art for his latest single, “Country On,” out July 1. In the never-before-seen picture, Luke leans against a barn holding a black trucker hat while he wears a flannel shirt and blue jeans. We can only assume he’s looking out at wide-open country given the snap’s background and the song’s title.

“Country On 7.1.22,” Luke captioned the photo.

Reacting to his latest music career news, American Idol fans were instantly thrilled and wasted no time flooding his Instagram comments section to let him know they’re ready for the single release.

“What a PERFECT date to bring out a NEW Single!! Can’t wait to hear it!! Love the picture!! WOW!! An album will be released SOON!! ❤️,” one fan exclaimed. “Finally new music 🔥🔥🔥 can’t wait 😍,” another commented. “Absolutely can’t wait for new music. Love to you and your precious family ❤️🙏❤️❤️,” a different fan said.

As for what the song is about, it seems like the “One Margarita” singer kept the details under wraps until it hit the airwaves. But before it debuted, he did give his followers a quick sneak peek of the song via an Instagram video in which he sang the chorus.

Here’s a quick snippet of the lyrics:

“Singin’ along, country on
I say hey, hey, USA
We ain’t seen our better days
Hell no, hey y’all, country on.”

Longtime fans who’ve kept up with Luke through the years may know that the last time he released new music was back in 2020, via his album “Born Here Live Here Die Here.” With that in mind, it’s no wonder folks are over the moon about his summertime track. But he’s not the only American Idol star making big music moves. Take a look at what the show’s recent winner is up to here:
