Filmmaker Karan Johar is back on the coffee couch! Season 7 of Koffee With Karan aired on Thursday on Disney+ Hotstar with Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani co-stars Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt. The two stars spoke about how their friendship came to be during Gully Boy, their married lives with their respective partners, and what it has been like the last two years during the pandemic. They also played the fun rounds of Koffee Bingo, Rapid Fire, and fun buzzer rounds.
Koffee With Karan 7: Ranveer Singh reveals he was unceremoniously dropped from Bombay Velvet and rejected for The Reluctant Fundamentalist: ‘My star value wasn’t as high’
During the Koffee Bingo round, Ranveer Singh had to check the boxes that he has done. He checked the box for ‘Got rejected for a role’. He said, “I have been rejected for The Reluctant Fundamentalist“
When Karan Johar mentioned Mumbai Velvet, Ranveer Singh said that he was rejected but dropped from the project. He said, “I was not rejected for Bombay Velvet. I was unceremoniously dropped because at the time, I couldn’t justify the budget. My star value wasn’t as high. But, things have changed.”
Bombay Velvet, helmed by Anurag Kashyap, starred Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma in the lead roles. Karan Johar had a cameo. The Reluctant Fundamentalist starred Om Puri, Shabana Azmi, and Riz Ahmed in pivotal roles.
the new season of Koffee with Karan will see Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Akshay Kumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Tiger Shroff, Shahid Kapoor, Kiara Advani, Ananya Panday, Vijay Deverakonda, Anil Kapoor, Varun Dhawan as guests.
On the work front, Ranveer Singh will be seen in Rohit Shetty’s CircusKaran Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and maverick South director S. Shankar’s retelling of his cult classic Annian.
