Nicki Minaj shows support for Kenneth Petty on Instagram after his sentencing to in-home detention

Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty was sentenced to one year of in-home detention and three years probation for failing to register as a sex offender.

After his sentencing, Nicki shared her support for her husband on her Instagram page.

The rapper, 39, posted a snap of Kenneth with their son, as well as a second snap as a family of three on Wednesday.

In the first image, Kenneth, 44, was holding their 22-month-old son (whose name has not yet been revealed) on his shoulders as they both stared into the camera.

The second image featured Kenneth, their son and Nicki cuddling up against him as they posed near a pink car.

Nicki captioned the two images with four emojis – heart eyes, hearts, a bow and a teddy bear emoji.

Her post came after Kenneth avoided a 10-year jail sentence after he was sentenced to in-house detention.

Kenneth failed to register as a sex offender when he moved to California with his wife.

He will instead be forced to stay in his multi-million-dollar Calabasas mansion under home detention for the next year and ordered to pay a $55,000 fine.

Kenneth, who married Nicki in 2019, plead guilty back in September on a federal count of failing to register as a sex offender.

While he was looking at a maximum prison sentence of 10 years with a lifetime of supervised release, he was sentenced Wednesday to just one year of in-home detention, and three years of probation, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a 16-year-old girl in 1995, for which he was sentenced to four years in prison.

He is considered a level-two offender in the state of New York, which equates to him being considered a ‘moderate risk of repeat offense.’

Kenneth started dating Nicki in 2018 and they tied the knot a year later and moved to California.

Nicki and Kenneth welcomed their last on September 30, 2020.

Petty was pulled over by the Beverly Hills Police Department in November 2019, and discovered he was a registered sex offender in New York, though he had not registered in California when he moved, which he’s required to do.

Petty plead guilty at the time but his hearing has been delayed several times before the sentence was handed out.

Prosecutors were recommending 15 months of prison time and five years of supervised release, and not a home detention, since he lives with Nicki in a gated community in Calabasas, which they contended was not much of a ‘punishment.’

The judge ultimately disagreed, sentencing Kenneth to one year of in-home detention, plus three years of probation, and a $55,000 fine.

He was also in legal trouble in August, when Jennifer Hough, Petty’s alleged rape victim, filed a lawsuit against both him and Minaj.

Jennifer claimed that both Nicki and Kenneth tried to coerce her into recanting her rape accusation, and they even offered a $500,000 to do so.

She also accused them of inflicting emotional distress, though she voluntarily dropped the lawsuit against Nicki.

‘The case against Nicki was voluntarily dismissed. The case against Kenneth Petty is still ongoing. Stay tuned!” Jennifer’s lawyer, Tyrone Blackburn said.

Neither Kenneth nor Nicki have commented on the sentencing.
