This is the sweet moment Princess Eugenie returned a mother’s keys after her child dropped them over the side of a barrier during the royal walkabout yesterday.

The princess was walking past well-wishers who had lined the road outside Balmoral, in Aberdeenshire, when the little one dropped the keys.

The Princess, herself a mother-of-one, said: ‘Oh no, your keys. Shall I get them for you?’ As she passed them back she joked: ‘It’s useful having a key,’ presumably meaning to keep a child entertained.

She then saw the mother was holding a pair of long-stemmed roses and gestured towards them. She said: ‘We can put them near her if you like.’

The mother thanked her profusely and Eugenie flashed a smile.

The moment was captured on camera by a nearby well-wisher who shared the clip on TikTok.

Princess Eugenie was joined by her sister, Princess Beatrice, and other senior royals at a church service at Crathie Kirk.

Princess Anne, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward were also in attendance, and spent time speaking to the royal well-wishers on their way home.

Beatrice, 34, and Eugenie, 32, looked distraught as they walked hand-in-hand scanning the thousands of flowers and messages of condolence that had been left by royal fans.

At one point their father, Prince Andrew, was pictured putting his arm around Eugenie while she held Beatrice’s hand and the trio stood among the tributes with bowed heads.

The Queen, who died on Thursday in Balmoral, aged 96, leaves behind eight grandchildren and ten grandchildren.

Beatrice and Eugenie were seen quietly walking down the gates of Balmoral, showing each other support by holding hands.

Both looked very solemn and were wearing black to signify mourning, as were the other members of the royal family present.

The Queen’s coffin is traveling from Balmoral to Edinburgh today before it makes its way to London next week.
