NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football” interviewed Chiefs superfan and musician Melissa Etheridge ahead of Sunday’s AFC Championship between Kansas City and the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.
Etheridge was asked by co-host Jamie Erdahl about – in her words – that “it’s bubbled to the surface now that some people are calling it ‘Burrowhead Stadium.'”
“Oh, ouch, ouch, that is so dangerous – for them,” Etheridge explained. “That is so, so – well you saw what happened when Trevor Lawrence was like, ‘Uh, I don’t know if it’s gonna be as loud as the Jaguars’ stadium.’ … It’s so loud in (Arrowhead) stadium. We take everything very personally. And I can’t even say that – I can’t even say what they’ve been saying. … Yeah, go right ahead, you guys. Go right ahead. There’s nothing like firing up Arrowhead Stadium. It’s just not – mmm.”
NFL Films tweeted video Wednesday of miked-up Bengals defensive back Mike Hilton telling fans, “We’ll see y’all in Burrowhead” as Cincinnati completed a 27-10 divisional-round win against the Bills in Buffalo:
Chiefs tight end and former Cincinnati Bearcats standout Travis Kelce shared his thoughts about the “Burrowhead” moniker on his “New Heights” podcast with his brother, Philadelphia Eagles center and fellow former UC standout Jason.
“We are the loudest stadium in the world on record,” Travis said. “One-hundred and 42 decibels. … Maybe we’re gonna have to break (the record) this week because a lot of Cincinnati Bengals fans are calling it Burrowhead instead of Arrowhead. They’re throwing a lot of bulletin-board material out there.”
