We have an important AFC West showdown that just kicked off Monday night, as Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos ride into Los Angeles to take on Justin Herbert and the Chargers. The winner of this matchup will own second place in the AFC West and further keep pace with the 4-2 Kansas City Chiefs.

These two teams split the season series last year, although Herbert is 2-0 in his career at home vs. the Broncos. He leads the No. 2 passing offense in the league, but he will have to find a way to get the better of the No. 3 passing defense in the NFL. It’s the Broncos defense that has propped up this team to this point, as Denver’s offense is one of the worst in the league.

The addition of Wilson hasn’t exactly brought the kind of spark to Denver that many anticipated. Through five games, the Broncos have scored the fewest amount of points in the NFL with 75, and Wilson has completed 59% of his passes for four touchdowns and three interceptions with an 82.8 passer rating. He’s on pace for career-worst marks in each of those statistical categories. The former Seahawk recently underwent a procedure where he had an injection in his throwing shoulder. It reportedly was a platelet-rich plasma injection, which aims to relieve discomfort in that shoulder area. It will be interesting to see if he performs better after this shot.

How both the Broncos and Chargers have begun the 2022 campaign was not ideal, but there’s plenty of football left to be played, and a divisional win under the prime-time lights could jump-start a run that leads to a postseason berth. Will the Chargers find a way to win their third in a row, or will the Broncos get back on track with their first divisional victory of the season? Follow along in the live blog below, as we break down this matchup as it happens.
