NVIDIA TITAN Ada not happening

According to hardware leaker Kopite7kimi, NVIDIA is no longer working on a new TITAN.

Even before the introduction of the GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, the specs for the supposed AD102-based flagship model with 18176 CUDA cores were shared by the leakers. It was said that a new model could feature more than 24GB of GDDR6X memory, and it would likely be the fastest gaming Ada GPU NVIDIA could launch.

However, Kopite is now sure that there won’t be a new TITAN with such specs. What he referred to before as “The Beast” might end up with slightly altered memory specifications as RTX 4090 Ti. The Ti variant is reportedly not canceled, and it may still happen in the future, he adds.

We won’t see Titan of Ada Lovelace. 😩

What this essentially means is that we are probably not going to see any gaming card with 48 GB memory because such capacities were usually a domain of the TITAN series. Instead, we might get a RTX 4090 Ti with nearly identical specs, but lower frame buffer. The good news is that the rumored 800W TGP part should also be off the table.

The new RTX 4090 Ti should feature AD104-450 GPU and 18176 CUDA cores, 11% more than RTX 4090. With higher TDP, faster memory and more cores, this part should easily find its place as the top NVIDIA GPU for this generation. The company is reportedly already saving chips for this SKU though the binning process for AD102 GPUs.

With this rumor, one might wonder if TITAN series are no more. NVIDIA has not launched any TITAN GPU based on the Ampere architecture, while the last model called TITAN RTX based on Turing is now nearly 4 years old.
