Nielsen has today released their ratings for the week of September 19th-25th and Netflix’s Jeffrey Dahmer limited series dominated the charts.

Even though it was only available for five of the seven days of that week, the show pulled in 3.66 billion minutes of viewing time. That’s the biggest premiere week for any streaming show since “Stranger Things” pulled in 5.14 billion minutes in late May.

It also makes it the tenth most watched title since Nielsen began tracking streaming viewing in 2020 – behind only “Stranger Things” which holds five of the Top 10 spots, along with “Tiger King” and “Ozark” which have two each.

Netflix’s own internal numbers have put the series as its second biggest English-language series ever over the first four weeks of release.

“Andor” had an OK opening for Disney+ with 624 million minutes of viewing for its first three episodes which released all at once. That’s behind the over 1 billion minute debut for “Obi-Wan Kenobi” in May, but ahead of the 389 million-minute opening of “The Book of Boba Fett” – though in the latter’s case only a single episode was available for its debut week.

Midway through their runs, “House of the Dragon” pulled in 1.01 billion minutes for that week while “Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” landed 977 million minutes. Both were beaten by “Cobra Kai” whose fifth season (which premiered earlier in the month) pulled in 1.11 billion for the week.

The figures come as “Dahmer” is making headlines this week for another reason as eBay has moved to ban the sale of Jeffrey Dahmer costumes ahead of Halloween as it violates its policy on glorifying violence and violent criminals.
