But nobody&#8217;s no worse for the wear.  I think everybody is just very intent on winning and fixing what we have going wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"N7MW3NAX6VAF5GQUVK47VUBNAM\">The Browns dug deep this week and renewed their commitment to winning, with everyone in the organization doing more to snap their three-game losing streak here.  Instead, they blew it at the end again, falling to 1-1 in the division heading into their big Halloween Monday Night Football game against the Bengals, who beat Atlanta 35-17 to improve to 4-3. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NDP3ODYSI5A7RIXIM4XVY7RJBE\">The Ravens also moved to 4-3, and the Browns were left to do more soul-searching \u2014 and yelling about leadership and others things.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7DHCMMHFWVCA7FXM6PQCYAGQBI\"><b>\u201c<\/b>I think the emotions of a football game are probably on us right now,\u201d said quarterback Jacoby Brissett (22-of-27, 258 yards, 5 sacks, 0 TDs, 0 INTs, 106.5 rating, one lost fumble). <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"A4E34EKQKFDLNG7GXJMCS2RTO4\">\u201cBut I think the guys in that room understand that hey, we&#8217;re allowed that until the end of the flight and then we get back in and we got to go back to work because we do have a big game coming up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"7J3WTHD23BB53J5RYDXUI7ZV2E\">The Browns did a lot of what they set out to do \u2014 including limiting Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson (9-of-16 attempts, 120 yards, 80.2 rating, 59 yards rushing) and tight end Mark Andrews (0-of-2) \u2014 but they found a new way to lose at the end.<\/p>\n<ul class=\"article__unordered-list\">\n<li><span><b>Sports betting comes to Ohio on Jan.  1, 2023:<\/b> Your questions answered<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"47BVDHTIBNBGLDZOS5JUM2D4GA\">After leading 7-0 on a 2-yard in the Nick Chubb TD on their opening drive and 10-3 in the first quarter on a Cade York field goal, the Browns once again let one slip away that they could&#8217;ve won.  They got two iffy calls at the end and a blocked 60-yard York field goal attempt with 2:01 remaining, after which the Ravens all but ran out the clock.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XAQKANB5KNHRRK3GHKX7T274S4\">\u201cReally disappointing and frustrating,\u201d said Browns coach Kevin Stefanski.  \u201cYou play these games and you know they&#8217;re going to be close.  Games in the NFL are close, games in our division are close.  But you&#8217;ve got to find a way to win.  And we didn&#8217;t do it today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QTTGGNVHCVAVXHIWJ4YMRFUNTI\">The Browns also lost the turnover battle again 2-1 thanks to fumbles by Brissett and Donovan Peoples-Jones, but they still had a chance to pull it out in the end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"XBDYCWT2XZD43I7ORVZ2DAYKUQ\">They pulled to within 23-20 with 9:00 left in the game on a 2-yard TD run by Kareem Hunt after an almost all-Nick Chubb drive on which he rushed for 12, 12 and 22 yards. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EXKHMPYTHRCGBD7TRHJORSHYS4\">The Ravens then embarked on a 12-play march to the Browns 24 and were well within the great Justin Tucker&#8217;s range for a field goal that would&#8217;ve made it 26-20 with just over 3:00 remaining.  But Jeremiah Owusu-Koramah, who vowed to make more big plays, stripped running back Justice Hill after a 4-yard run, and Isaiah Thomas recovered.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"BANHARWUVVF2TF34C7V72N6CK4\">\u201cNot necessarily (thinking) that we&#8217;re going to win this thing, but you kind of celebrate and then reset your mind to a point where, &#8216;OK, we may have to go back on this thing,&#8217;\u201d Owusu-Koramoah said .  \u201cThere&#8217;s a lot of time left.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container\" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Reaction to Browns 23-20 loss to Ravens, Cleveland\u2019s fourth straight defeat\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ajdlepHOZN8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"J2NJT6KPBVBXHI32I2ZUWMI6LM\">Brissett, who had struggled with the deep ball heading in, took over at the Browns&#8217; 16 with 3:12 remaining, and found Peoples-Jones for 37 yards over Marcus Peters down the right sideline to the Baltimore 42. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PMTMMK6MFFHRLBI45GVIPN3DDU\">The Browns were already almost in York&#8217;s \u201cget me to the 40\u2033 range at that point.  Facing a third and 2 from the Ravens&#8217; 34, Brissett found Cooper singled up with Peters and fired a shot into the end zone.  Cooper caught it for the apparent go-ahead TD, but was flagged 10 yards for pushing off.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"4IG3T2NODREYZGTWVUELHXYBNI\">\u201cIt&#8217;s something I shouldn&#8217;t have done,\u201d Cooper (3-of-4, 74 yards) said.  \u201cAt the end of the day, I&#8217;m a pro, you can&#8217;t allow the referee to make a decision like that.  You&#8217;ve just got to play more clean.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"TCNOZIJWZRAGHHATJR5XCM74FU\">Cooper, who prides himself on winning the contested catch, acknowledged the push was superfluous.  Earlier, he had caught a 55-yarder that led to a field goal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6BU3DNHK4ZBADPYBXG6HS3EVSQ\">\u201cAt the end of the day I believe if I had that play over again, I could go up and make that catch without doing what I did,\u201d he said.  \u201cThat one&#8217;s on me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"LULCLH6S55ATRNKEINYLRQCGVI\">He acknowledged \u201cevery game.  It doesn&#8217;t get called &#8230; yeah, that&#8217;s every game\u2026..Guys were saying they didn&#8217;t think it was a good call.  But it is what it is.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"N2XNPY65LJFMLNUV4WQWU6WV6E\">On fourth and 5 from the Ravens 37, York lined up for the 55-yard kick. Peoples-Jones was stripped after a 19-yard catch on the game&#8217;s final play as time expired.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"NF3OVLWQ2JBUJEPQDUO7IJ2KIY\">\u201cI had to drive it and it came off the foot really well and I promise you, it was going in if the guy didn&#8217;t block it,\u201d York said.  \u201cTo be honest, I&#8217;ve got to watch the movie a bit, but I think the guy just made a hell of a play and jumped up pretty high in the air and got it.  It wasn&#8217;t by much, but it&#8217;s definitely a frustrating way for a kick to not go in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"GD5HR5FQUBA6BGDXDH7R5C74HE\">Dunn didn&#8217;t feel he jumped, but replays show that several Browns could&#8217;ve been flagged.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"U4BVQ4VUONGIBI23MLBET34R64\">\u201cI&#8217;m not really sure what to say about it,\u201d Dunn said.  \u201cThey called it on me, so they must&#8217;ve saw something, but I didn&#8217;t think I moved.  I&#8217;ll see on tape what exactly happened, but I feel bad it hurt us at such a pivotal part of the game.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"J5PU46AL2JA7DBNNDQYHF46LXY\">Ravens coach John Harbaugh, a former special teams coordinator, felt sure of what he saw.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FXZOSHERYBFPFFJORALOBXIXQQ\">\u201cThe left tight end (Dunn) moved, for sure,\u201d Harbaugh said.  \u201cI also felt like they were trying to draw us offsides with a double cadence \u2013 what the centers do a lot of the time is they&#8217;ll move the ball.  I thought he picked the ball up.  You can&#8217;t pick the ball up;  you&#8217;re really not allowed to move the ball in a hard fashion to draw someone offsides &#8230; then, they said also that the left tight end moved, so they kind of got themselves on it, and that&#8217;s what they called.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HBQIETLTYRCFTETPE42HMK3DHQ\">Brissett didn&#8217;t blame the loss on the two questionable calls, knowing the Browns had their chances to regain the lead earlier in the game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"D32DVJGQUBHC3E4ZGHOOIZIF3U\">\u201cNo, no, for sure,\u201d Brissett said.  \u201cI definitely think it&#8217;s a lot more plays out there that we that we left.  I can off the top of my head give like five right now.  But you never come into a game wanting calls obviously.  And we weren&#8217;t expecting any calls so we just got to find a way to make those plays and be better from those.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"EJIG6MWWONFJFP4YRWLLGMYBFI\">Brissett, who gave an impassioned speech in the locker room after last week&#8217;s loss to the Patriots when he turned the ball over three times, headed in determined to protect the ball.  But he lost a fumble for the second straight week when Calais Campbell knocked the ball out of his hand on the Browns&#8217; first drive of the second half. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"Q377UQ4FOFGP7KINBFVJW3VDTY\">Baltimore started at their 25 and converted it into a 1-yard TD run by Gus Edwards (66 yards, 2 TDs) to increase its lead to 20-10.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HHJPXWP4BFCNZHT4CRLSO5M2VU\">\u201cI was throwing it and as I was going to throw it he just hit the ball out of my hand,\u201d said Brissett.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YCXALAY3FBCSXJXERXV4LREU2A\">The Ravens also had a short field in the second quarter when Devin Duvernay returned a punt 46 yards to the Browns&#8217; 21. Justin Tucker hit a 34-yard field to pull to within 10-6.  He later nailed a 55-yard yarder that made it 23-13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"YWE6IAMJIJHZNENG2PQU4HSIFM\">\u201cIt&#8217;s just very frustrating,\u201d said Garrett.  \u201cSaying the same things each week.  Gotta find a way to win and stop beating ourselves.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"PC2LQVKHSRDNFFXJIXN62TDWQQ\">After cooler heads prevailed in the locker room, Garrett put things back into perspective.  The season is definitely on the brink, but the Browns can try to salvage it with a victory over the Bengals.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"5W5XPLF2Z5FP3JLSC4CLXMQOFE\">\u201cNobody is intent on giving up or letting this season go and thinks this season is gone,\u201d he said.  \u201cThere&#8217;s still 10 games left, a lot of football to be played, a lot of division football to be played.  Everything is still ahead of us.  It would&#8217;ve been nice to win this game and good for us in the standings and for this division.
