According to Mayo Clinic, between 10 and 20 per cent of known pregnancies end in miscarriage, yet it’s not a topic often discussed.<\/p>\n

The former actress said, “Some have bravely shared their stories; They have opened the door, knowing that when one person speaks truth, it gives license for all of us to do the same.”<\/p>\n\n\n

Despite the challenges, the “You Oughta Know” singer always tried to focus on a positive future. “I’m an optimist who will get depressed and cry,” she said. “But at the end of the day, there’s still that little light, that little star of Bethlehem keeps dangling over there.”<\/p>\n

The former first lady described how the experience is “lonely, painful and demoralizing,” adding that although common, it is deeply misunderstood.<\/p>\n
“We had one pregnancy test come back positive, which caused us both to forget every worry and swoon with joy,” she said. “But a couple of weeks later, I had a miscarriage, which left me physically uncomfortable and cratered any optimism we felt.”<\/p>\n\n\n

She suffered the daughter loss after the birth of her, Vale and after going through two rounds of in vitro fertilization treatment.<\/p>\nShe highlighted how her experience left her feeling hopeless about ever having another baby. “I stopped even letting myself hope or believe I could [get pregnant] because the years were getting on,” she told the magazine. “It wasn’t that I thought it was impossible; I just thought it wasn’t likely.”<\/p>\n\n\n

She described the continued grief after giving birth to stillborn Rosie, saying, “There was so much anger and pain and sadness. … I don’t know if Paul or I will ever not feel that longing for Rosie, but she will always be in my heart.”<\/p>\n
However, Perri recently announced that her current four-year-old daughter, Carmella, will soon have a little sister.<\/p>\n\n
