Deadline recently sensed a disturbance in the force, reporting that the long-rumored Star Wars movie from Lindelof is finally moving forward. There’s no word yet on what the new movie will be about or exactly when it will be released, but Deadline indicates that the project has garnered the “most momentum” out of all the films currently in development at Lucasfilm, including Taika Waititi’s Star Wars feature and Patty Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron — which recently got pulled from Disney’s release calendar.

Rumors of Lindelof working on a Star Wars movie surfaced in March when reports revealed that he had been approached to create a new entry in the Star Wars universe after publicly saying he would like to work in that universe. At the time, he joked: “Maybe a decade from now when I would no longer be blamed for ruining it. That would be a hoot.”

Lindelof is a polarizing figure for many people when it comes to the world of entertainment. His more recent projects like Watchmen and The Leftovers are often touted among the most critically acclaimed shows on television, while his divisive Lost finale and controversial Star Trek Into Darkness have prompted some fans question his work over the years.
