Al Roker shows Oswego love as he leaves hospital, misses Thanksgiving parade

SUNY Oswego alumnus Al Roker showed his alma mater some love on Thursday as he left the hospital after being treated for a blood clot in his leg and lungs. Roker posted a video of himself walking down a hospital hallway while wearing a green, yellow and gray Oswego State polo shirt.

“All right, this is my version of the Thanksgiving Day Parade,” he said. “Getting ready to leave the hospital. Time to blow this taco stand. Woohoo!”

The “Today” show weatherman missed the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade for the first time in 27 years, but said he got home in time to watch a little of the NBC broadcast while still wearing his Oswego shirt.

The 68-year-old broadcaster has dealt with a number of health issues in recent years, including prostate cancer, a shoulder surgery due to arthritis in 2020 and a hip replacement in 2019.
