\u201cThe Parties [Microsoft and Activision] do not dispute that some portion of gamers are likely to re-assess their console ownership at the start of a new generation, but they also note that this is an event that only occurs approximately every eight years\u2026 the next new generation of consoles are not expected to be released before the fall of 2028 at the very earliest.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
In response, Sony claims the proposed 2028 date for the next generation of consoles would arrive outside the current Activision agreement to keep \u201cCall of Duty\u201d on PlayStation until 2027.<\/p>\n
In said statement, it says it has a date in mind for the PS6’s release but that information has been redacted. Nevertheless the overall paragraph at least hints at a similar release window:<\/p>\n
\n\u201cMicrosoft has offered to continue making Activision’s games available on PlayStation only until 2027. Likewise, in public comments just on October 26th, Microsoft said that it plans to offer Call of Duty on PlayStation only as long as it makes sense. A period until 2027 \u2013 or some other (possibly shorter) time that Microsoft unilaterally determines makes sense to Microsoft is badly inadequate.<\/p>\n

The timing fits as game console generations typically have a shelf life of seven years or so with the current generation released late 2020. <\/p>\n
Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has regularly said Microsoft is more interested in Activision’s mobile game catalog than \u201cCall of Duty.<\/p>\n
