TALLAHASSEE — Coffeyville CC four-star offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock made his way to Florida State on Friday for their game against Florida. He returned on Saturday for a bit more time around offensive line coach Alex Atkins and other members of the staff.

At the conclusion of the Saturday portion of his visit, Blackstock shared that he plans to return the weekend of December 16th to the 18th for an official visit with the Seminoles.

He also went in-depth about what this weekend’s unofficial visit was like, which centered largely around spending time with Atkins.

“Just talking to coach, really developing a better relationship,” Blackstock said. “Just seeing everything that was going on and stuff like that. What is my situation and what am I coming in to. My plan. Like what is my opportunities and stuff like that.”

Blackstock shared his taken on spending time with Atkins and what he is like as a coach.

“He is a straight forward guy,” Blackstock said. “He ain’t going to lie to you or bullshit you, stuff like that. He is an honest guy. He is going to tell you what you’re coming in to and what it is and what it ain’t like. He ain’t going to share like you are going to come in from day one and just be a starter, because that’s not true. You’ve got to come in and work and craft at your game and get better and progress. Got to get the game speed down, the practice speed, and everything like that coming from junior college. So that’s big to me. Knowing what I’m getting myself into.”

The 6-foot-5.5, 297-pound lineman added he can play offensive guard or offensive tackle.

As for Friday’s rivalry game, a packed out Doak Campbell Stadium and a tight affair made an impression.

“It was nice,” Blackstock said. “It was loud. I enjoyed it. Big-time win for Florida State and stuff like that. So that’s how I look at it.”

While Blackstock is currently playing junior college football in the middle of America, he originally hails from Covington, Ga. Will distance from home be a factor?

“Yeah and no,” Blackstock said of distance from home being a potential factor. “I’ve been away from home, so I know what it is and what it ain’t. So whatever is the best opportunity for me to be successful on the next level, that’s what I’m going to do.

“I want to know who my coach has developed, who he put into the league, who he got to the league, who is leaving and who’s coming back. I need to know that,” Blackstock added. “What connection does he have. How can I get to that next level. How can I elevate my game from week-in and week-out, from week one to week seven. So that’s the biggest thing to me.”

In addition to his official visit to FSU on the weekend of December 16th, he is also set to officially visit Penn State on the weekend of December 9th. He has previously used official visits to Illinois and South Carolina. He does not expect to use an official visit during the weekend of December 2nd, as Coffeyville is set to play that weekend against Hutchinson.

He is a December graduate and January enrollee with three years to play two.
