Helena Bonham Carter has admitted she and her younger boyfriend Rye Dag Holmboe regularly joke about the considerable age gap in their relationship.<\/p>\n

The actress, 56 – who began dating the art historian, 35, in 2018 – insisted her love is an ‘old soul in a young body’ and an ‘ageless’ man.<\/p>\n

She told The Times: ‘There are people I’ve been involved with who aren’t necessarily their age, maturity wise, whereas [Rye] is ageless.’<\/p>\n

Cher was recently forced to defend her relationship with boyfriend Alexander Edwards, who is 40 years younger than her. <\/p>\n

And while discussing the subject, Helena said: ‘Good on men for appreciating different kinds of beauty and finding other things sexy.<\/p>\n

The Crown star has been in a relationship with the academic for four years following her split from film director Tim Burton in 2014.<\/p>\n

It comes after she told the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden she felt ‘very lucky’ to have met Rye.<\/p>\n

Helena and her former long-term partner, director Tim Burton, 63, famously lived in inter-connecting houses during their 13-year relationship, with each property decorated to their own his ‘n’ hers tastes and personal styles.<\/p>\n

However, the Daily Mail’s Richard Eden reported last year that she had made the step of choosing to share a home with her academic boyfriend, even adding to their domestic bliss by adopting house rabbits.<\/p>\n

The couple met at a wedding in 2018, following Helena’s split from Tim in 2014.<\/p>\n

Explaining how they met, she told The Guardian: ‘A totally random thing, which both of us nearly didn’t go to, so it was one of those moments that was so chance and ended up determining so much. A really happy accident, and it’s an amazing thing.’<\/p>\n

Addressing the couple’s 22-year age gap, the actress previously said in an interview with The Times:<\/p>\n

‘Everybody ages at a different rate. My boyfriend is unbelievably mature. He’s an old soul in a young body, what more could I want?<\/p>\n

‘People are slightly frightened of older women, but he isn’t. Women can be very powerful when they’re older.’<\/p>\n

She shares children Billy, 18, and Nell, 14, with ex-husband Hollywood director and writer Tim.<\/p>\n
