Earlier, ghana<\/u> earned three points after a wild victory against South Korea<\/u> to move up to the second spot in Group H. Elsewhere, in Group G, cameron<\/u> rally to a draw with Serbia<\/u>and Brazil topped Switzerland.<\/p>\n

Cristiano Ronaldo & Co. didn’t waste any time setting the tone in this one. Portugal’s William Carvalho narrowly missed the net on this early shot, which was set up by a smooth shoulder pass from Ronaldo.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo had another chance to put Portugal on the board with a well-placed free kick, but it was deflected.<\/p>\n

Uruguay had a golden opportunity to take over near the half-hour mark, but Rodrigo Bentancur wasn’t able to connect after a monster save from Portugal keeper Diogo Coasta.<\/p>\n

R\u00faben Neves was shown the yellow card late in the first half, giving Uruguay defender Guillermo Varela an opportunity to get his team on the board. Once again, the attempt was blocked, and things remained scoreless.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Portugal’s Rapha\u00ebl Guerreiro checked in for Nuno Mendes, who was forced out due to injury, ahead of the half.<\/p>\n

Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes teamed up to put the game’s first point on the board, as Portugal took a 1-0 lead as the one-hour mark approached.<\/p>\n
