I guess if you want to satisfy your inner child who is into this sort of thing, <em>The Mean One<\/em> might be for you;  it definitely looks to prove<!-- --> that the lowest forms of entertainment keep it \u201creal\u201d by bastardizing <!-- -->children&#8217;s<!-- --> IP without any real intention outside of making <span>Bambi<\/span>, <span>pooh<\/span>,<!-- --> and now <span>t<!-- -->he Grinch<\/span> go homicidal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 bOfvBY\">this <span>Dr.  Seuss<\/span> <!-- -->parody\u2014<!-- -->whose budget clearly went all in on the makeup for \u201cthe mean one\u201d and for casting <em>Terrifer 2<\/em>&#8216;s David Howard Thornton\u2014looks cheaper than an Asylum film and shot in a rando town retrofitted as a slasher. Don&#8217;t get me wrong, though\u2014<!-- -->horror comedies<!-- --> with kids and holidays like <em>Anna and the Apocalypse <\/em>or the upcoming <em>Violent Night<\/em>done<!-- --> <!-- -->with earnest intent and camp with clever re-imaginings, work.  Just&#8230; not here, where you <!-- -->can tell the effort didn&#8217;t go further than \u201c<!-- -->wouldn&#8217;t it be sick to make the Grinch homicidal in a small town?<!-- -->\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 bOfvBY\">Directed by Steven LaMorte, <em>The Mean One<\/em> hits US theaters on December 9<!-- -->.<\/p>\n<hr class=\"gcp5ez-0 hKlTiw\"\/>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 bOfvBY\"><em>Want more io9 news?
