Strobel made his acting debut in the 1986 thriller movie Shadow Play, starring alongside Dee Wallace and Cloris Leachman.

He was cast as Philip Michael Gerard aka Mike aka The One-Armed Man in Twin Peaks, which debuted in 1989.

Mike was a traveling shoe salesman who – like the show’s villain Bob (Frank Silva) – was inhabited by a spirit that would make him commit despicable acts.

Unlike Bob, though, Mike had a spiritual awakening and tried to repent for his misdeeds, cutting off his own arm which had a tattoo that read Fire Walk With Me – which indicated he was touched by, ‘The devilish one.’

He spent several years trying to track down Bob in the series, often featured in strange dream sequences with Kyle MacLachlan’s Agent Cooper.

Strobel appeared in both seasons of the original series, along with the 1992 movie Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me, the 2014 movie Twin Peaks: Missing Pieces before his final role in the 2017 Showtime series.
