{"id":151189,"date":"2022-12-07T22:46:56","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T22:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/ex-bills-punter-matt-araiza-not-charged-after-gang-rape-claim\/"},"modified":"2022-12-07T22:46:56","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T22:46:56","slug":"ex-bills-punter-matt-araiza-not-charged-after-gang-rape-claim","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/ex-bills-punter-matt-araiza-not-charged-after-gang-rape-claim\/","title":{"rendered":"Ex-Bills punter Matt Araiza not charged after gang-rape claim"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignleft\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>Former Bills punter Matt Araiza will not face charges from gang-rape that he participated in a.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Araiza was accused in a civil suit, along with two of his former teammates at San Diego State University, of raping a 17-year-old girl, who also claimed that she went in and out of consciousness during the incident. <\/p>\n<p>Wednesday, San Diego&#8217;s district attorney Summer Stephan announced that there will be no charges for Araiza \u2014 or his former teammates, Zavier Leonard and Nowlin \u201cPa&#8217;a\u201d Ewaliko \u2014 resulting from the accusations.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUltimately, prosecutors determined it is clear the evidence does not support the filing of criminal charges and there is no path to a potential criminal conviction,\u201d the district attorney said.  \u201cProsecutors can only file charges when they ethically believe they can be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Araiza was given the nickname \u201cPunt God\u201d for his exceptional punting abilities at San Diego State and was selected by the Bills in the sixth round of this year&#8217;s NFL Draft.
