CHAPEL HILL, NC — News broke on Wednesday evening that North Carolina offensive coordinator Phil Longo is leaving UNC for the same position at Wisconsin. Longo coached in Chapel Hill for four seasons and guided quarterback Sam Howell for three seasons and Drake Maye in 2022. His Air Raid system with a power run game led to some of the most prolific and explosive offenses in program history. Shortly after the news broke, Inside Carolina‘s Tommy Ashley, Ross Martin, Jason Staples, and Taylor Vippolis convened for an emergency podcast to discuss the news.

The show starts with reaction to the news of Longo leaving UNC for Wisconsin. What are some of the reasons for the departure? Staples provides great intel on some of the things happening behind the seasons. The podcast then moves to where North Carolina goes from here and who and what the Tar Heels and head coach Mack Brown should look for in the next person to lead UNC’s offense.
