\t\t\t\t\tAccording to police documents played and a newly released New Mexico State Police interview, a 17-year-old UNM student a key role in luring NMSU basketball player Mike Peake to the UNM campus on Nov. 19.Although the 17-year-old student is being charged in this case, Action 7 News is not identifying her because of her age.The teenager said, \u201cIt kind of sucks because I feel like I would’ve never called Michael here last night. Brandon would still be alive and you wouldn’t have this problem.\u201d During the police interview, she told police she first saw Peake in October at the UNM and NMSU rivalry football game in Las Cruces, New Mexico. \u201cSo ever since then, we’ve been talking back and forth and we just like when he got down here, he said, of course, he wanted to have sex. Yeah, that’s what we’re going to do,\u201d the teen said. She says her friend Brandon Travis pressured her into setting up Peake as retaliation for a fight that occurred weeks earlier at the UNM vs. NMSU football game.The night she lured Peake to campus she at first said she didn’t know who jumped Peake. The investigator asked, \u201cSo, you know, who were these dudes that pulled up on you?\u201d to which she responded, \u201cNo I don’t.\u201d That’s when the officers tell her they know she is lying, then she starts her story all over again. That’s the last thing I seen when I ran. ARROW. Because I saw the gun. I didn’t know that there was a gun involved. ARROW. That’s why I ran.”In the police interview, the teen says things were not supposed to escalate. \u201cI thought they were jumping him because, like I said, I heard the noise. So that’s why I had, like, stayed there for a second. I didn’t know they were gunshots,\u201d the teen said. She then tells investigators how she feels guilty about setting Peake up. bad. And then now that my friend Brandon’s dead, I feel like I’m kind of the reason that he’s dead,\u201d she said. The teen is currently facing charges for aggravated battery and conspiracy.\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n
