{"id":152409,"date":"2022-12-09T03:23:02","date_gmt":"2022-12-09T03:23:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/maverick-named-best-movie-of-2022-by-national-board-of-review-the-hollywood-reporter\/"},"modified":"2022-12-09T03:23:02","modified_gmt":"2022-12-09T03:23:02","slug":"maverick-named-best-movie-of-2022-by-national-board-of-review-the-hollywood-reporter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/maverick-named-best-movie-of-2022-by-national-board-of-review-the-hollywood-reporter\/","title":{"rendered":"Maverick Named Best Movie of 2022 by National Board of Review \u2013 The Hollywood Reporter"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tThe National Board of Review has named <em>Top Gun: Maverick<\/em> as its best movie of 2022.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tThe Tom Cruise-starring sequel also won outstanding achievement in cinematography.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<em>The Banshees of Inisherin<\/em> won a leading three awards, including best actor (Colin Farrell), best supporting actor (Brendan Gleeson) and best original screenplay for Martin McDonagh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tSteven Spielberg won best director for <em>The Fabelmans<\/em>with the film&#8217;s Gabriel LaBelle winning breakthrough performance alongside <em>Till<\/em> star Danielle Deadwyler.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tMichelle Yeoh was named best actress for her starring role in <em>Everything Everywhere All at Once<\/em>and Janelle Mon\u00e1e won best supporting actress for her role in <em>Knives Out<\/em> sequel <em>Glass Onion<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tThe award for best adapted screenplay went to <em>All Quiet on the Western Front<\/em>&#8216;s Edward Berger, Lesley Paterson and Ian Stokell.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t<em>Marcel the Shell With Shoes On<\/em> was named best animated feature, with <em>Close<\/em> taking best international movie; <em>Sr.<\/em>, about Robert Downey Jr.&#8217;s father, named best documentary;  and <em>Women Talking<\/em> being recognized with the best ensemble.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\t\u201c<em>Top Gun: Maverick <\/em>is a thrilling crowd-pleaser that is expertly crafted on every level,\u201d NBR president Annie Schulhof said in a statement.  \u201cTom Cruise, Joseph Kosinski and the entire filmmaking team have succeeded in making an incredibly popular film that brought audiences back to theaters, while at the same time being a full-on cinematic achievement.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tThe organization&#8217;s honors are voted on by a group of film enthusiasts, professionals, academics, filmmakers and students.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n<p>\tNBR has a mixed record as an Oscars predictor.  Last year, its top movie was <em>Licorice Pizza<\/em>, which scored three Oscar nominations, including best picture.  In 2020, its top movie was <em>Da 5 Bloods<\/em>which ended up only landing one Oscar nomination, and in 2019, NBR selected <em>The Irishman<\/em>, which scored several Oscar nominations but no wins.
