Terrence Howard<\/span> said he might be closing the curtains on his acting career soon \u2014 and for good this time. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While appearing on the red carpet for his forthcoming Peacock series \u201cThe Best Man: The Final Chapters\u201d in Los Angeles, the Oscar-nominated actor <\/span>told<\/span> Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier why he’s planning his exit. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis is the end for me. This is the end for me. I do n’t know if it’s the end for the rest of them, \u201dhe told Frazier, referring to his co-stars. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cI retired two years ago, for the most part. I was done. … I asked Sidney Poitier 10 years ago, ‘Does he want to do any more work,’ and he said, ‘Why would I spend my last 10 years doing an impersonation of myself?’ And that’s what I’ve gotten to,\u201d Howard continued. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI’ve gotten to the point where now I’ve given the very best that I have as an actor. Now I’m enjoying watching other new talent come around, and I don’t want to do an impersonation of myself,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Fans of the longtime actor will recall this isn’t the first instance in which Howard has discussed ending his career. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

In 2019, as the final season of “Empire” neared, he told <\/span>MEAT<\/span> he would be \u201crunning away as quickly as possible\u201d after the hit drama series ended. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

While discussing his post \u201cEmpire\u201d plans, he also <\/span>told<\/span> Extra’s Cheslie Kryst at the time, \u201cI’m done with acting. I’m done pretending.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Despite his adamant proclamation, the 53-year-old has starred in multiple projects over the past two years, including \u201cTriumph\u201d and \u201cCut Throat City.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Howard \u2014 who’s best known for his roles in \u201cHustle & Flow\u201d and Marvel’s \u201cIron Man\u201d \u2014 reiterated his retirement plans when asked by Frazier if he was ready to pass the torch. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cYes, there’s some better actors out there that can do things that I was never able to do,\u201d he said. \u201cSo, I want to applaud them, I want to be excited about what they do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Based on the <\/span>1999 movie “<\/span>The Best Man<\/span>,\u201d \u201cThe Final Chapters\u201d limited series will premiere Dec. 22 ten Peacocks.<\/span> <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
