He is thumbing his nose at the luxury tax bill.  He is blowing through it and nobody will stop him.  The Mets payroll after luxury tax will go over $400 million and he will pay every cent of it. He was drafted by the Mets at 18 in 2011 and now will stay through his age-37 season.  He gets on base and is the ideal leadoff hitter.  Would love to see him steal some bases moving forward. <\/li>\n<li><strong>STEVIE SPENDING SPREE: <\/strong>Mets fans have been waiting for this their whole lives.  Cohen is spending all the money to put out the best team possible.  He does not care how much luxury tax the Mets go through.  He will do whatever it takes to put a championship roster together.  The crazy part is he still has more to do with getting another starting pitcher, another bat and maybe another reliever. <\/li>\n<li><strong>SENGA\/QUINTANA\/STARTING ROTATION: <\/strong>Kodai Senga is very much the next signing the Mets will make.  Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer and Senga atop your rotation is scary to join Jose Quintana and Carlos Carrasco.  Quintana was an under-the-radar signing coming off the best year of his career.  He replaces Taijuan Walker for a better price and is arguably a better pitcher.  Adding a Senga or bringing back Chris Bassitt would allow David Peterson and Tylor Megill to be bullpen pieces or depth starters if someone gets hurt. <\/li>\n<li><strong>DAVID ROBERTSON\/BROOKS RALEY: <\/strong>After not trading a prospect to get him at the trade deadline, Billy Eppler went out and signed him for one-year, $10 million.  Robertson is one of the best setup men in MLB.  He has been to the playoffs consistently and been to the World Series.  Robertson paired with Edwin Diaz at the back end of the bullpen will make the Mets even better.  Brooks Raley is the lefty the Mets bullpen badly needed.  He is coming off the best year of his career and has some nasty stuff.
