It sounds like James Gunn and Peter Safran&#8217;s plans for DC won&#8217;t just impact Snyderverse actor Gal Gadot, but Henry Cavill as well.<\/p>\n<p>According to The Hollywood Reporter&#8217;s Heat Vision newsletter, Man of Steel 2 \u2014 which would see Cavill return to the role \u2014 \u201chas stalled out.\u201d  Plans for the film, which began before Gunn and Safran officially took over as co-heads of DC Studios, may not survive the regime change.<\/p>\n<p><output class=\"widget-container\"><button type=\"button\" style=\"display:none\" class=\"jsx-3968970857\"\/><\/p>\n<div class=\"jsx-3733722558 slideshow-preview\">\n<p>Every DC Movie and Series Affected by the Warner Bros.  Discovery Merger<\/p>\n<div class=\"jsx-3733722558 images-container\"><button type=\"button\" aria-label=\"Open Slideshow\" class=\"jsx-3733722558 hero-image\"><button class=\"jsx-1599603317 button button--secondary-alt jsx-337917361 row-pagination-button next contained centered round xlarge\" type=\"button\" title=\"Open Slideshow\"\/><\/button><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/output><\/p>\n<p>The report says that Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight was hired to write a treatment for Man of Steel 2 but \u201cit didn&#8217;t thrill Warner executives\u201d once it was received.  While there could&#8217;ve been another writer hired to give it a shot, Gunn and Safran were hired to oversee DC and \u201cdevelopment promptly ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, this isn&#8217;t necessarily an end-all, be-all.  Gunn issued a public statement on Twitter following similar reports that Wonder Woman 3 died saying of these reports \u201csome of it is true, some of it is half-true, some of it is not true, &#038; some of it we haven&#8217;t decided yet whether it&#8217;s true or not.\u201d<\/p>\n<section data-transform=\"object-feedback\"\/>\n<p>What this likely means is that Gunn and Safran&#8217;s plans are still in development and any number of things could change or remain the same once that plan is revealed.  Whether that means keeping some of the Snyderverse stuff and losing others, or wiping the slate clean and starting from scratch.<\/p>\n<p><output class=\"article-video-container\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Numerous reports say that there was a plan to see Cavill return as Superman, even while previous DC boss Walter Hamada was in charge.  A long-term plan was being formed to tease a Crisis on Infinite Earth story with numerous Superman and Batmans from different dimensions via a cameo.<\/p>\n<p>All this is to say that Gunn and Safran&#8217;s arrival may have put all DC plans (outside of Matt Reeves&#8217; Batman and Todd Phillips&#8217; Joker) on hold until the two can figure out what they want to do with DC and see if any parts of the last era can fit into those plans.<\/p>\n<p><em>Matt TM Kim is IGN&#8217;s Senior News Editor.
