The jury on Monday also acquitted the 70-year-old or could not reach a verdict in the cases of the three other accusers.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstein is already serving a 23-year prison after being convicted of sex crimes by a court in New York City.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvey Weinstein forever destroyed a part of me that night in 2013 and I will never get that back,\u201d Jane Doe 1 said in a statement issued shortly after Monday&#8217;s verdict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe criminal trial was brutal and Weinstein&#8217;s lawyers put me through hell on the witness stand, but I knew I had to see this through to the end, and I did.  I hope Weinstein never sees the outside of a prison cell during his lifetime, \u201dshe said.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstein faces up to 18 years in prison on the counts for which he was convicted, but aggravating factors could increase that to 24 years.<\/p>\n<p>Lawyers will return to court on Tuesday to deliver arguments related to aggravating factors.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center;display:block\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-oembed-container\" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Harvey Weinstein, Hollywood and the media - The Listening Post\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/opm9fKc4LXg?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<h2>&#8216;Sexism, misogyny, and bullying tactics&#8217;<\/h2>\n<p>The charges Weinstein was acquitted of on Monday involved a sexual battery allegation made by a massage therapist who treated him at a hotel in 2010. Jurors were also unable to reach a verdict in the charges involving two other accusers, notably rape and sexual assault charges involving Jennifer Siebel Newsom, a documentary filmmaker and the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHarvey Weinstein will never be able to rape another woman.  He will spend the rest of his life behind bars where he belongs,\u201d Siebel Newsom said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThroughout the trial, Weinstein&#8217;s lawyers used sexism, misogyny, and bullying tactics to intimidate, demean, and ridicule us survivors.  The trial was a stark reminder that we as a society have work to do,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon said he was \u201cdisappointed\u201d that the jury was split on some of the counts.<\/p>\n<p>But, he said he hoped \u201cits partial verdicts bring at least some measure of justice to the victims\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>During five weeks of testimony in Los Angeles Superior Court, accusers including Siebel Newsom said Weinstein lured them to what they believed were business meetings.  During often graphic testimony, the women alleged that the powerful producer of \u201cPulp Fiction\u201d and \u201cShakespeare in Love\u201d masturbated in front of them and groped or raped them.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecutors also called 40 other witnesses in an attempt to give context and corroboration to those stories.<\/p>\n<p>Four were other women who were not part of the charges but tested that Weinstein raped or sexually assaulted them.  They said he promised help with securing an audition or a book deal, then arranged meetings where staff disappeared and left them alone with him.<\/p>\n<p>Weinstein said all of his sexual encounters were consensual and pleaded not guilty.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center;display:block\"><\/p>\n<div class=\"ast-oembed-container\" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Harvey Weinstein guilty of sexual assault, rape\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/iTHJHreZ-AE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Weinstein was first convicted of sexual misconduct in New York City in February 2020.
