Last month he said he was considering a bid for the NFL&#8217;s Washington Commanders, and back in the spring, he reportedly made an attempt to buy the Denver Broncos.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Current Suns owner Robert Sarver is practically being forced to sell the organization after a series of reports were published in the last year detailing the toxic workplace culture that the owner has fostered for years, including racist and sexist comments and behavior toward employees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In September, the NBA suspended Sarver and found him $10 million after a league investigation found him responsible for &#8220;workplace misconduct and organizational deficiencies.&#8221;  Later that month, Sarver announced his desire to sell the team after buying it for $401 million in 2004.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Ishbia&#8217;s UWM recently overtook Dan Gilbert&#8217;s Detroit-based Rocket Mortgage to be the top mortgage lenders in the nation by volume.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">While Ishbia&#8217;s father, Jeffrey Ishbia, started what became UWM in 1986, nearly all of the company&#8217;s growth happened after Mat became CEO and took over day-to-day control in 2013.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">UWM is still less of a household name than Rocket Mortgage because it doesn&#8217;t do direct-to-consumer mortgage loans.  Instead, its business model is underwriting loans for independent mortgage brokers, known as &#8220;wholesale&#8221; lending.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_anc\" id=\"gnt_atomsnc\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadAnc\" aria-label=\"Newsletter signup form\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">UWM went public in January 2021 by merging with a blank-check company, known as a SPAC, that belonged to Alec Gores, the older brother of Pistons owner Tom Gores.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Pistons great Isiah Thomas also is on UWM&#8217;s nine-member board of directors.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_fo__bet-best\" aria-label=\"Scores and odds from Tipico\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-type=\"comment\"><!--@pre<iframe class=gnt_em_fo_if src=\"\/tangfrag\/sports\/gaming\/bet-best?prm-embedded&prm-teamid=108&prm-gnteamid=404153&prm-league=NBA#fhp-assetid=69744393007\" loading=lazy sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-forms\" title=\"Scores and odds from Tipico\"><\/iframe>--><\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Last year, Ishbia donated $32 million to MSU for a new football building.
