247Sports No. 1 ranked offensive tackle Kadyn Proctor announced his flip and intentions to sign with Alabama early Wednesday morning during a ceremony at Des Moines (Iowa) Southeast Polk High.

A former Iowa commit, the 6-foot-7, 330-pound Proctor also strongly considered Oregon.

The Top247’s No. 5 prospect regardless of position, Proctor adds to an Alabama class that was already ranked No. 1 nationally. He visited Tuscaloosa over the weekend, his third time on campus.

“Just going in there and having that opportunity to start right away,” Proctor told 247Sports. “I’ll have to compete for it but it’s a good chance I start right away for a National Championship contending team and winning games and having fun and being the best I can be and playing against the best day in and day out.”

Proctor built a strong connection with Freddie Roach and Eric Wolford on the Alabama coaching staff and some of his buddies in the locker room include Trent Booker, J.C. Latham and Tyler Booker.

“I love that I’m not an outlier in the rankings,” Proctor said. He is the fourth five-star to commit to Alabama joining the nation’s No. 1 safety Caleb Downsthe top-ranked pass rusher Keon Keeley and running back Justice Haynesand he may not be the last today with the Crimson Tide also considered the one to beat for defensive lineman James Smith and edge Qua Russaw. “There’s like-minded people, really, really good players in the class I can relate to and have great competition with.”

Proctor had the special moment where he told Saban he was coming.

“He was just happy for me,” Proctor said. “Happy that I told him. He just wants me to grow and succeed.

“It means a lot for sure to know that one of the top schools historically since I’ve been born has extended me an offer and trusted in me and believed in me to go play there.”

Proctor’s visit to Alabama over the weekend pushed him over the top.

“Just got a little more insight on it and had a little fun,” Proctor said before adding what stands out about the program.

“They don’t have too many offensive linemen. I think about four or five of them left. Just looking at the depth chart it’s really enticing.

“Just great coaches all the way in and out. Their program historically.”

Proctor will play in the All-American Bowl on January 7, joining Downs, Keeley, Haynes and Yhonzae Pierre.
