STARKVILLE, Miss. \u2014 The first time Mike Leach arrived at the seafood and soul food restaurant called WTF, he ordered the honey gold chicken wings a certain way.<\/p>\n

\u201cExtra crispy,\u201d he told Shan Suber, the owner and head chef.<\/p>\n

\u201cExtra crispy?\u201d Suber said. \u201cThat’s the way I like my wings, too!\u201d<\/p>\n

Since that meeting in 2020, Leach, the former Mississippi State<\/span> football coach, and Suber, a Black single mom from the Mississippi Delta, grew close. Their relationship evolved into a friendship, and Leach went from frequent client to confidant. <\/p>\n
