Six months ago, Westen Champlin built a 1,500 hp engine for his Ford Mustang which blew up after just 10 minutes of running. Since then, the car has remained parked up in a field where it became home to a family of rats and their nest tucked up neatly in its engine.

In the latest upload to the Westen Champlin Youtube Channel, that same Mustang gets loaded onto a trailer to bring it to the shop for some serious TLC, and the installation of a brand new custom-built 2,000-hp engine.

A Fresh Start For The Ford Mustang

On the way to Westen’s shop, the hood of the Mustang flies open, damaging both fenders in the process. This adds to the growing list of issues the team must fix over the next three days. They also need to remove the old engine before the new one arrives.

The arrival of the new 2,000-horsepower blown big block engine causes a lot of excitement in the garage. The engine is the same one used in monster trucks, alcohol dragsters and Australian burnout cars, and it packs some serious punch. The team gets to work installing the new engine and quickly runs into some problems.

Although the new engine block is the same size as the existing one, they need to remove the top part of it for installation. The engine mount plate also doesn’t fit, so the team need to make some adjustments before they can install it. Westen does the honors of lowering the new engine into place, and all that’s left to do is hook up the cooling system and install the new Pro Mag 44 Magneto spark plug.
