National Signing Day has arrived with college football’s early signing period starting Wednesday. It will be a busy one for the Penn State football program, which enters Wednesday with 23 total commitments in a 2023 recruiting class ranked second among Big Ten teams.

As always, Lions247 and the 247Sports network will be locked into all the developments that Penn State fans need to know. To keep things centralized, we’ve got you covered right here with the Nittany Lions’ latest signings, surprises, target news, prospect breakdowns, and much more.

Things will get started early Wednesday, with Penn State coach James Franklin and his staff into team facilities before breakfast. They’ll communicate with recruits and families during a span of several hours, and we’ll be able to confirm the official transition from commit to signee as they happen.

Last Friday, Franklin discussed the challenge of juggling Signing Day plans with transfer portal efforts and preparation for an upcoming Rose Bowl matchup against Utah.

“Balance is kind of the key word,” Franklin said. “You’re running in a thousand different directions, making sure our guys finish strong academically, obviously making sure that we’re doing everything we can for bowl prep. God forbid you go buy a Christmas present. All those types of things. Just running in a thousand different directions, making sure our guys are in a good place here, making sure our staff is flying all over the country, safe, doing what they need to do, then finishing in recruiting.”

Franklin will sign his 10th recruiting class as Penn State’s head coach, and ramifications will be felt on the field starting with spring practices. This season, the Nittany Lions burned a whopping 10 freshman redshirts, with young talents such as running backs Chitron Allen and Nick Singletonlinebacker Abdul Carterand offensive tackle Drew Shelton filling key roles.
