Florida right tackle Michael Tarquin intends to enter the NCAA’s transfer portal, the Ocala native posted to social media Thursday night.

“I am very thankful to have had the opportunity to play football and get my degree at the University of Florida,” Tarquin posted in a note to his Twitter account. “I appreciate everyone who has helped me in this process far, and I cherish every relationship thus I have built at UF. That being said I am putting my name in the NCAA Transfer Portal.”

Tarquin, and Ocala native who started seven games during the 2022 season, an injury in Florida’s second game of the season, the 26-16 loss to Kentucky, which kept him out for four games. He returned mid-season and played the remaining six games at right tackle, including the SRS Distribution Las Vegas Bowl loss to Oregon State.

He returned to the team in 2022 after starting two of 12 games in 2021, and Tarquin emerged out of spring camp as the starting right tackle along a veteran offensive line.

He’s the third offensive lineman with considerable starting experience to exit the program since the conclusion of the regular season. Florida’s starter at right guard, O’Cyrus Torrenceannounced his intentions to enter the upcoming NFL Draft after an impressive season in Gainesville, his lone with the UF program.

“After careful consideration with my family, I have decided to forego my final year of eligibility and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft,” Torrence wrote in a Twitter post. “First, I want to thank God. I am truly blessed to have the opportunity to chase my passion and dreams. None of this would be possible without Him! I want to thank my coaches at Florida and Louisiana helping me become not only a better football player but also a better man. You challenged me every day to be the best version of myself. While I was only a Gator for one year, I want to thank you Gator Nation for your support and making me feel like family. There’s nothing in the word like playing in The Swamp: However, I would have never been a Gator without Cajun Nation and UL. You believed in me at the beginning and provided me an opportunity to display my talent. Be able to show the world what I am capable of. Lastly, I want to thank my family for your support and the sacrifices you made to allow me the opportunity to chase my dream of playing in the NFL. I look forward to the future as the best is still to come.”

And Florida left tackle Richard Gouraige followed suit and entered the NFL Draft after five seasons at Florida, though, unlike Torrence, he played with Tarquin in the postseason loss to the Beavers. With the majority of the team’s offensive line departing, the Gators will be tasked with developing a new starting unit, and it’s possible the program looks to the transfer portal for players with starting experience. Florida signed three offensive linemen on Wednesday when the Early Signing Period opened, and UF head coach Billy Napier divulged the program’s “hopeful” to add additional players at the position over the months to come.
