BATON ROUGE – Texas A&M transfer and former 5-star cornerback Denver Harris has committed to LSU football, he announced on Twitter Thursday.

Harris, a freshman, played 211 defensive snaps in five games with the Aggies last season, including 66 against Alabama. But, according to ESPN, the Houston, Texas native was suspended indefinitely by the team for the second half of the season after a postgame locker room incident.

He was also suspended for the Aggies’ Week 3 contest against Miami due to a curfew violation, according to ESPN.

At 6-foot-1 and 180-pounds, Harris was the No. 23 players and No. 4 cornerback in the nation in the 2022 class, according to 247Sports Composite. He attended North Shore High School in Houston and was the No. 6 recruits in the state.

“Set It Off.” Harris wrote.

Harris’ decision provides a major boost to LSU’s cornerbacks room next season and moving forward, he has three years of eligibility left.

LSU came into this week with only one major contributor at cornerback expected to return next season: sophomore nickelback Sage Ryan. But with Harris and four-star signee and top-60 prospect Javien Toviano – who signed on Wednesday – both on board, LSU’s cornerbacks room has at least reached an acceptable baseline for next season and beyond.

The potential of the room could have been even greater if LSU had grabbed five-star cornerback Desmond Ricks. But just minutes after Harris’ announcement, Ricks committed to Alabama over the Tigers.
