It&#8217;s going to be an exciting game.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" style=\"height:440px\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2023\/01\/01\/PDTF\/d6c30fb8-8245-4fd0-8e9b-d7b791416057-AP23001735093692.jpg?ssl=1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2023\/01\/01\/PDTF\/d6c30fb8-8245-4fd0-8e9b-d7b791416057-AP23001735093692.jpg?width=1320&amp;height=880&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lions head coach Dan Campbell smiles on the sideline during the second half against the Bears on Jan.  1, 2023, in Detroit.\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Detroit Lions visit the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Lambeau Field in a game with stakes that seemed too far-fetched to mention two months ago.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><strong class=\"gnt_ar_b_al\">MORE FROM BIKETT:<\/strong>This is the Lions&#8217; new normal: Playing meaningful games in January (and beyond?)<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Lions were 1-6 in early November, when they hosted a 3-5 Packers team that was four games into a five-game losing streak.  Neither looked remotely like a playoff contender then, or even after the Lions beat the Packers, 15-9, in a turnover-filled game.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">But on Sunday, the Lions and Packers, both winners of five of their past seven games \u2014 six of eight for the Lions, actually \u2014 will meet with a potential playoff berth on the line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Lions (8-8) need a win over the Packers and a loss by the Seattle Seahawks against the Los Angeles Rams to qualify for their first postseason berth in six years.  The Packers (8-8) can earn their fourth straight playoff appearance with a win.<\/p>\n<aside aria-label=\"advertisement\" class=\"gnt_m gnt_x gnt_x__lbl gnt_x__al\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Because the Lions-Packers game was flexed to 8:20 pm Sunday night, the Lions will know whether they remain in playoff contention before kickoff.  The Seahawks and Rams play at 4:25 pm<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Campbell said he &#8220;can&#8217;t worry about&#8221; his game&#8217;s start time and promised to treat it as &#8220;a win-win either way.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;Either we&#8217;re playing to get in or we&#8217;re playing to be spoiler, and that&#8217;s it,&#8221; he said.  &#8220;So either way, we win.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_img\"><img class=\"gnt_em_img_i\" style=\"height:441px\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/11\/06\/PDTF\/63ee305e-150c-4375-85f6-cb682be37670-11062022_lions1h_jh-18.jpg?ssl=1\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.gannett-cdn.com\/presto\/2022\/11\/06\/PDTF\/63ee305e-150c-4375-85f6-cb682be37670-11062022_lions1h_jh-18.jpg?width=1320&amp;height=882&amp;fit=crop&amp;format=pjpg&amp;auto=webp 2x\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes (55) sacks Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers during the first half of a 15-9 Detroit win at Ford Field, Nov.  6, 2022.\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\"\/><\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Asked if he felt his team earned the right to play in primetime for the first time this season, Campbell rubbed his right arm and said, &#8220;I do.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;But that&#8217;s not up for me to decide,&#8221; he said.  &#8220;But I know we&#8217;ll put up a hell of a fight, one way or another.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\"><strong class=\"gnt_ar_b_al\">CARLOS MONARREZ:<\/strong>Dan Campbell isn&#8217;t scared to talk about playoffs and division titles for Lions<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_anc\" id=\"gnt_atomsnc\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-method=\"loadAnc\" aria-label=\"Newsletter signup form\"\/>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Lions&#8217; stunning turnaround began with their win over Green Bay in Week 9. They&#8217;ve topped 30 points in five of their eight games since and are allowing 20.7 points per game during their hot streak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The Packers have done a similar U-turn with their season.  They upset the Dallas Cowboys, 31-28, a week after losing to the Lions, and are allowing 17 points per game during their current four-game win streak.  On Sunday, Green Bay got defensive and special teams touchdowns in a 41-17 rout of the Minnesota Vikings to keep its playoff hopes alive.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"gnt_em gnt_em_fo__bet-best\" aria-label=\"Scores and odds from Tipico\" data-g-r=\"lazy\" data-gl-type=\"comment\"><!--@pre<iframe class=gnt_em_fo_if src=\"\/tangfrag\/sports\/gaming\/bet-best?prm-embedded&prm-teamid=1042&prm-gnteamid=1&prm-league=NFL#fhp-assetid=69771556007\" loading=lazy sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-popups allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox allow-forms\" title=\"Scores and odds from Tipico\"><\/iframe>--><\/aside>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Campbell said both the Lions and Packers are far different, much better teams than the ones that squared off two months ago.  And he&#8217;s embracing the stakes of the week with his young team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">Just 14 players on the Lions&#8217; 53-man roster have ever played in a playoff game.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">&#8220;We tell them the magnitude,&#8221; Campbell said.  &#8220;This is big. That&#8217;s what we do. This is big. It&#8217;s going to be fun and let&#8217;s go. I mean, the intensity is up now. This is a playoff game.
