Nicole Kidman will be starring as the lead character in the new Paramount+ series Lioness.<\/p>\n

The announcement comes after the actress, 55, previously signed on to be an executive producer of the series centered around female CIA operatives.<\/p>\n

The show was penned by Taylor Sheridan, the creator of the esteemed series Yellowstone – which will return with the fifth season in the summer. <\/p>\n

New role: Nicole Kidman, 55, will be starring as the lead character in the new Paramount+ series Lioness<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Paramount+ has not yet announced a release date for the anticipated series. <\/p>\n

The Moulin Rouge! star will play a CIA supervisor who faces challenges as a woman in the high-ranking intelligence community, according to the synopsis.<\/p>\n

At the same time, she ‘must juggle the trappings’ of also being ‘a wife who longs for the attention she herself can’t give and a mentor to someone veering suspiciously close to the same rocky road she’s found herself on.’ <\/p>\n

Saldana will be playing alongside Kidman and De Oliveira as ‘a station chief of the Lioness program tasked with training, managing, and leading her female undercover operatives’. <\/p>\n

The filmmaker has been in the past for his depiction of women in his male-centric stories but now will have a new opportunity to make amends in the upcoming female-centric series.<\/p>\n
