NVIDIA drivers evolution to include more AI

CapFrameX claims that NVIDIA could release a new driver with performance improving AI optimizations.

Technically speaking, artificial intelligence is already implemented into current GPU drivers, but the scale and purposes may not be broad. It is claimed that further AI optimizations may be added to the graphics driver focusing on “instructions, throughput, hardware utilization, threading, settings”.

It is not clear how would such AI optimization work from user’s side, after all, gamers can already use built-in optimizations profiles for each game through GeForce Experience. This is an automated process based on a large database of performance profiles for known systems.

A very similar feature is now being worked on AMD, who have recently announced HYPR-RX tech, which would also include Radeon Super Resolution, a system-wide driver level upscaling and latency improving features.

[Rumor] Nvidia is working on AI optimized drivers. Release maybe this year (Q1).

▶️ Up to 30% more performance
▶️ Average improvement ~10%
▶️ No info about specific gen

Take this with a grain of salt. If true Nvidia drivers will be real “fine wine”. pic.twitter.com/QGTUL9iK7N

The rumor does not provide any details on what hardware would be required for such optimizations to work. Given how segmented the support is for the current DLSS technologies, there is a chance that certain features may be locked to RTX graphics only.

A 10% performance improvement on average would is to be expected from such optimizations. That would definitely make an impact on gaming experience.
