There will be three new quarterbacks on Wisconsin’s roster when the 2023 college football season starts this fall.

On Tuesday, Mississippi State quarterback transfer Braedyn Locke announced his commitment to the Badgers, joining fellow signal callers Tanner Mordecai (SMU) and Nick Evers (Oklahoma).

A true freshman, Locke did not play for the Bulldogs during the 2022 season. Locke was a former 247sports composite four-star recruit coming out of Rockwall High School in Texas. He chose MSU over North Carolina and UW offensive coordinator Phil Longo, Miami (FL), Wake Forest, Louisville, Kansas, Georgia Tech, and others. Locke was the nation’s No. 22 ranked signal callers in the class of 2022, according to 247sports.

Locke entered the transfer portal on Jan. 4 and took an official visit to UW this past weekend.

“I want to say thank you to everyone that made this past year at Mississippi State possible for me,” Locke wrote in a tweet. “I love my teammates and I’m so grateful for my time and experience in Starkville.”

As a senior in high school, Locke threw for 3,657 yards with 36 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while leading Rockwall to a 9-3 record.

Locke is the eighth addition from the transfer portal for the Badgers and first-year head coach Luke Fickell. He joins Evers, Mordecai, defensive end Darian Varner (Temple), edge rusher Jeff Pietrowski (Michigan State), center Jake Renfro (Cincinnati), defensive back Jason Maitre (Boston College), and offensive lineman Joe Huber (Cincinnati).

Locke will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Per sources, UW is likely to add more transfer prospects on Tuesday as well.
