USC and Lincoln Riley are in the hunt for a second consecutive No. 1 transfer class.

The Trojans have been on a hot run of transfer pickups over the last couple of weeks, culminating with the signing of former five-star prospect and Texas A&M defensive line transfer Anthony Lucas on Wednesday to move USC to the No. 2 classes in the country.

UPDATE: The Trojan up one spot further after Colorado moved a transfer decommitment.

The new Thursday rankings for Lucas and Purdue defensive lineman Jack Sullivan springboarded the Trojans up from No. 6 in the nation to the second spot, now with 72.27 points. The No. 2 spot was held by Colorado and its 21 commitments, but that dropped to 20 on Thursday evening. Florida State holds the No. 1 class with nine commitments and 74.99 points.

Sullivan earned a one-star bump from his high school rating to a four-star transfer with a 0.9000 rating; Sullivan is not currently among the top transfer prospects. Lucas it the highest-rated signee in USC’s class.

USC now boasts the No. 9 overall class in the 247Sports rankings, which factors in the high school and transfer classes. The Trojans finished with the No. 6 overall classes in 2022.

Overall, the Trojans boast two transfers in the Top 25 prospects between Lucas and the former Arizona wide receiver Dorian Singer, the No. 21 overall prospect and the No. 3 wide receivers. The 6-foot-1, 190-pound Singer broke out in 2022 with 66 receptions for 1,105 yards and six scores in 12 games with 11 starts; his 1,105 receiving yards led the conference while his 66 receptions were sixth. The sophomore was named Associated Press first-team All-Pac-12 and second-team All-Pac-12 for his efforts

The Trojans have signed four prospects among the Top 50 transfer recruits along with Arizona cornerback Christian Roland Wallace, no. 35 overall, and South Carolina running back MarShawn Lloyd, no. 39 overalls. Oklahoma State linebacker transfer Mason Cobb is just outside the Top 50 as the No. 54 overall transfers.

The rest of USC’s ranked players are linemen: Arizona defensive tackle transfer Kyon BarrsFlorida offensive tackle transfer Michael Tarquin and Washington State offensive lineman transfer Jarrett Kingston. Barrs is the No. 119 overall transfer followed by Tarquin at No. 152 overalls. The former left tackle and guard starter Kingston, who earned a three-star transfer rating, rounded out the group at No. 166 overalls.

Riley and the Trojans finished with the No. 1 transfer class in 2022 with 20 transfer signees. A big chunk of that group’s points come from the additions of five-star transfer Caleb Williams, the No. 1 overall prospect, and 2021 Biletnikoff winner Jordan Addison. That class finished with 95.10 points, the only class with +90 points.

USC’s 2023 class actually has a higher prospect average of 90.6 to 90.0 from last cycle. Seven of USC’s 20 signees last year carried a four- or five-star rating; six of USC’s 11-man class in 2023 are four-star prospects.

The Trojans are far from done in the transfer market, still in the hunt for at least one more offensive lineman and multiple defensive linemen.

USC and Lincoln Riley are in the hunt for a second consecutive No. 1 transfer class.
