good morning, New York Giants fans!

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Thursday that he continues to be encouraged by the progress of cornerback Adoree’ Jackson, who has not played since Week 11 due to a sprained MCL.

“I think he feels good,” Daboll said. “I think (Thursday) is another important day for him. Encouraged, hopeful, but I think we have to go through these next two days seeing progress. We have to see how he does rep after rep after rep. I think he’s making progress, but, again, he never want to put anybody out there that’s not fully ready to go or (does n’t) feel ready to go.”

Jackson was officially listed as a limited practice participant. The Giants added two players to the injury report — right tackle Evan Neal (ankle) and wide receiver Marcus Johnson (knee). Both were listed as limited participants.

“I regret it in the aspect that I feel like the focus of the game was now put somewhere else,” a reflective Shepard said. “In the building I felt like we were all good, but guys leave the building and turn on the TV and it was on all day around here. It definitely drew away from where the attention should’ve been.”

“I know it’s a playoff game, more attention and more eyes. But to me, I won’t be nervous. I’ll be hyped, I get hyped for every single game. But nervous? I wouldn’t say that. For me, it’s just another football game.”

“As a player, as a competitor, you want these moments. This is stuff you dream about as a kid. Playing in the playoffs, going into a hostile environment, loud, making big plays, silencing the crowd. That’s stuff you think about as a kid and that opportunity is here,” Barkley said.

From the get-go, Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale entrusted Thibodeaux with a critical role in his base scheme — strong-side linebacker, commonly known as the “Sam.” Pre-snap duties for that job — offensive formation recognition, confidently yelling out defensive alignment adjustments — are too daunting for most rookies.

Not Thibodeaux. He plays speed chess, reads finance books, and had a 3.8 GPA in high school. He will interview the accounts who do his taxes this year.

8. Daniel Jones, New York Giants. Jones attacks the middle of the field really well, showing some high-end ball placement. His 75.9% completion rate on throws between the hashes ranks second in the NFL. And he has become a rushing asset for the Giants ‘offense, picking up just shy of 600 yards with his feet in 2022.

I do wonder if his “good” is good enough, though. Can Jones carry the Giants to a string of playoff wins? The supporting cast doesn’t have the same talent as other NFC contenders, so Jones will have to take over at times.

David Cutcliffe, who once coached Eli Manning at Ole Miss, sees qualities in Jones that Manning possessed that he believes are imperative to playing quarterback in the New York market.

“You have to be built for that, and I think Daniel is built well for New York,” Cutcliffe said. “He’s not ever gonna get full of himself. If you don’t get full of yourself, you can’t be chopped down. He’s a pretty level-headed young man.”

The Giants lost, 27-24, on a 61-yard field goal as time expired, a score set up on a 17-yard completion to Jefferson on third-and-11. But Martindale never wavered.

“I went on the back of the plane, and I told them, ‘We’ve got a playoff defense, guys. We got beat by a buzzer beater at half-court’.”

Wink Martindale was asked how much the team is inspired by the old school Giants:

“Definitely inspired. We know where the standard is, and we want to keep raising the bar. That’s why I keep referring to the fans, I think they like seeing it…” pic.twitter.com/5NIutPwBxI

Giants-Vikings injury report: Giants ‘encouraged’ by Adoree’ Jackson
