Suggested to be launching in September this year, the idea appears to be that the platform holder would potentially drop the PS5 system with a disc drive from its lineup and only produce the PS5 Digital Edition.  Then, if a customer wanted to play physical games, they could purchase the detachable disc drive separately.<\/p>\n<p>This method would allow Sony to streamline its production process and offer possible buyers more flexibility if they wanted to upgrade in the future.  Apparently, you&#8217;ll simply plug it into a PS5 via the USB-C slot and it&#8217;ll snugly sit alongside the system, as if it was always meant to be there.  The device is supposedly already in the hands of some developers.<\/p>\n<p>It seems to be pitched at new PS5 customers, but we still want to know if you&#8217;d be interested in such an option.
