A Houston Texans running back on Friday was accused of burglary based on he forced his way into a Houston home and chased his on-again-off-again girlfriend into a bathroom, according to court records. Records filed in the Harris County District Clerk’s office describe the charge as burglary with intent to rape, but late Monday the Houston Police Department said that charge was incorrect. The police department said the charge should be \u201cburglary with intent to commit assault.\u201d<\/p>\n

Police said there had been no sexual assault against Darius Anderson of Fort Bend County. They attributed the mistake to a clerical error.<\/p>\n

According to the complaint, police were called to the home in the Museum District shortly after 7:30 am<\/p>\n

A police complaint against Anderson, 24, who lives in Fort Bend County, was filed with the Houston Police Department on Friday, according to court records. Anderson hadn’t been arrested as of Monday, police said. Court records said a warrant or citation had been issued for his arrest.<\/p>\n

A woman told police Anderson forced his way into her home, causing her to fall onto a staircase, according to the complaint. She told Houston police that Anderson chased her through the home and she grabbed a gun off a coffee table to prevent him from having access to it, according to the complaint. She never pointed or shot the weapon, according court documents.<\/p>\n

She told officials she hid in a bathroom, and that Anderson said he broke the lock to the bathroom door and yelled he was going to beat her up, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

She said Anderson left after hearing her call the police, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

Anderson grabbed an \u201cunknown number\u201d of the woman’s shoes as he left the house, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

The woman told police she and Anderson had been in an \u201con and off\u201d relationship for a year and that they had broken up two months prior to the incident, according to the complaint. Still, the woman said Anderson had been staying at her home every other night for the past month, according to the complaint.<\/p>\n

In court documents, prosecutors asked for a $50,000 bond, noting that Anderson is a professional football player and had the financial means to be considered a flight risk.<\/p>\n

A Texans spokesman on Monday evening confirmed the team was aware of the report about Anderson.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are gathering information and have no further comment at this time,\u201d team spokesman Omar Majzoub said.<\/p>\n

In the bond documents, prosecutors asked that Anderson be prohibited from returning to the woman’s house and possessing a firearm.<\/p>\n

Anderson’s lawyer didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday night.<\/p>\n
