Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges was charged with one felony count of injuring a child’s parent and two felony counts of child abuse, Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced Tuesday. The case includes an allegation of causing great bodily injury on the domestic violence victim.

According to the criminal complaint, Bridges allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in front of their two children on or about June 27 and 28. The case remains under investigation by the LAPD.

Bridges was arrested on a felony on June 29, but no further information was released by the Los Angeles Police Department at the time. The 24-year-old was released after posting $130,000 bail.

“Domestic violence creates physical, mental and emotional trauma that has a lasting impact on survivors,” Gascón said in a release. “Children who witness family violence are especially vulnerable and the impact on them is immeasurable. Mr. Bridges will be held accountable for his actions and our Bureau of Victim Services will support the survivors through this difficult process.”

Bridges is due in court Wednesday morning for his arraignment.

The Hornets released a statement after his arrest saying they were in the process of gathering information and had no further comment.

Bridges, a first-round pick in 2018 out of Michigan State, has played four seasons for the Hornets. He averaged 20.2 points and seven rebounds per game last season while helping Charlotte reach the postseason Play-In Tournament.
