{"id":20181,"date":"2022-07-20T12:38:45","date_gmt":"2022-07-20T12:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/soto-flies-commercial-to-hr-derby-after-nationals-refuse-to-charter-flight\/"},"modified":"2022-07-20T12:38:45","modified_gmt":"2022-07-20T12:38:45","slug":"soto-flies-commercial-to-hr-derby-after-nationals-refuse-to-charter-flight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/soto-flies-commercial-to-hr-derby-after-nationals-refuse-to-charter-flight\/","title":{"rendered":"Soto Flies Commercial to HR Derby After Nationals Refuse to Charter Flight"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><!-- tml-version=\"2\" --><\/p>\n<p>Hours before Juan Soto won the 2022 Home Run Derby in Los Angeles on Monday night, he traveled from Atlanta to California on a commercial flight.<\/p>\n<p>the <span>nationals<\/span> outfielder&#8217;s agent Scott Boras told <em>Sports Illustrated<\/em>&#8216;s Stephanie Apstein that the team didn&#8217;t charter a flight for Soto to the All-Star week after he turned down a 15-year, $440 million contract extension on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Because of this, Soto had to board a plane early on Monday morning out of Atlanta following the Nationals&#8217; series vs.  the Braves, who were charted to Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Atlanta Braves arrived [in Los Angeles] five hours earlier than Juan Soto did,\u201d Boras said.  \u201cYou know why?  Because their team chartered a plane.  Juan Soto had to fly on a commercial flight and wait in an airport for two hours and get here at 1:30 in the morning and have to compete in the Home Run Derby.  And that&#8217;s something that Major League Baseball did not take care of and that&#8217;s something that the Washington Nationals did not take care of.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"m-in-content-ad-row l-inline mm-in-content-ad-row--in-content not-size-b not-size-c not-size-d\" data-ad-group=\"in_content-0\"\/>\n<section class=\"m-in-content-recommendation m-detail--in-content-recommendation h-isolated-styles mm-component-stack--is-body-item\" style=\"--title_size_a_font_size:16;--title_size_b_font_size:16;--title_size_c_font_size:16;\">\n<p><span>Scroll to Continue<\/span><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<p>Soto is Washington&#8217;s only All-Star this year.  Boras told Apstein that he did not charter a plane for Soto because it was a \u201cviolation of rules governing agent behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Apstein noted that a Nationals spokesperson did not comment.<\/p>\n<p>Soto&#8217;s future remains uncertain, especially now that it appears the relationship between him and the team is tainted.
