{"id":21423,"date":"2022-07-21T17:03:53","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T17:03:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/kate-mckinnon-leaving-saturday-night-live-ahead-of-season-48-explained\/"},"modified":"2022-07-21T17:03:53","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T17:03:53","slug":"kate-mckinnon-leaving-saturday-night-live-ahead-of-season-48-explained","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/harchi90.com\/kate-mckinnon-leaving-saturday-night-live-ahead-of-season-48-explained\/","title":{"rendered":"Kate McKinnon Leaving Saturday Night Live Ahead of Season 48 Explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<div itemprop=\"articlebody\">\n<p>In a new interview, two-time Emmy winner Kate McKinnon is opening up her decision to depart <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em> following an 11-season stint on the late-night sketch series. <\/p>\n<aside class=\"inline-floating-gallery\">\n\t\t<\/aside>\n<p><span id=\"more-1234853494\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought about [leaving] for a very long time, and it was very, very hard,\u201d McKinnon said during Thursday&#8217;s episode of <em>Live With Kelly and Ryan<\/em>.  \u201cAll I ever wanted to do in my whole life was be on <em>Saturday Night Live<\/em>.  So, I did, I loved it, I had the best decade, and then I was just like, &#8216;My body was tired,&#8217; and I felt like it was time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comedian was also asked if she&#8217;d tune in for the upcoming Season 48. \u201cI don&#8217;t know what I&#8217;ll do,\u201d she answered.  \u201cI don&#8217;t know if I can watch the show yet.  It&#8217;s just too emo because I miss everyone so much.  I mean, it&#8217;s my other family\u2026.  I think I&#8217;m just going to tape <em>The Bachelorette<\/em> and watch that instead.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKinnon, along with Aidy Bryant, Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney, all were rumored to exit <em>SNL<\/em> in the lead-up to the May 21 finals.  She signaled the end of her run with a final \u2014 and ultimately emotional \u2014 take on her oft-abducted Mrs.  Rafferty character.  Davidson, meanwhile, went on to appear one last time at the Weekend Update desk, as did Bryant (as part of the recurring segment \u201cTrendsetters,\u201d opposite Bowen Yang).  McKinnon and Bryant then joined Mooney for his sendoff, a five-to-1 commercial sketch for \u201cGrey Adult Pigtails.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>McKinnon \u2014 whose myriad impersonations over the years included Justin Bieber, Hillary Clinton, Kellyanne Conway, Ellen DeGeneres, Anthony Fauci, Rudy Giuliani, Laura Ingraham and Elizabeth Warren \u2014 recently earned her ninth Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, a category she previously won in 2016 and 2017.
