Then, he received a sign.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBest script I&#8217;ve ever read.  I walk out in the backyard and, do you know where I found Ken, Jimmy?  Face down in the mud next to a squished lemon,\u201d said Gosling of his daughters&#8217; Ken doll.  Gosling took a photo of what he found and texted it to Gerwig saying, \u201cI shall be your Ken, for this story must be told.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><div class=\"ast-oembed-container\" style=\"height: 100%;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ryan Gosling Addresses His Viral Ken Picture and Paints Jimmy\u2019s Fingernail Pink (Extended)\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/V9uHZ2uQ8YI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/p>\n<p>Fallon acknowledged that Gosling, who has two daughters, aged 6 and 7, with partner Eva Mendes, \u201cbroke the internet\u201d when his real-life version of Ken was revealed.  And the pair, who are each dads to two daughters of similar age, also joked about the overlooked role Ken plays in the Barbie universe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody plays with Ken,\u201d said Gosling.  \u201cHe was \u2026 available,\u201d offered Fallon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd yet?\u201d  Gosling asked.  \u201cHe stayed in the toy box,\u201d Fallon confirmed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe&#8217;s an accessory \u2014 and not even one of the cool ones,\u201d said Gosling, as the pair bonded over their shared pain of assembling a Barbie Dreamhouse.<\/p>\n<p>While doing press for his latest movie, <em>The Gray Man<\/em>, Gosling has also been describing Ken as having no home and no job, which he wanted to clarify: \u201cThose are not plot details.  These are just objective facts about Ken.  That&#8217;s the Ken life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>the <em>Barbie<\/em> movie has been in development for eight years and underwent several changes, with Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway circling the role during previous iterations.
