Tiger Woods made a strong start to the Genesis Invitational on Thursday as he shot a four-under 67 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California. Woods, who is a six-time winner of the event, was one of the early starters in the morning and he made the most of it, carding six birdies against two bogeys to put himself in a good position heading into the second round.

The 15-time major champion was in good form off the tee, hitting 9 of 14 fairways and 12 of 18 greens in regulation. He also showed off his renowned short game, making some nice up and downs to save par on several occasions.

Woods was also impressive with his putter, making some key birdie putts, including a 20-footer on the par-3 16th. He also made a great par save on the par-4 18th, rolling in a tricky downhill six-footer to maintain his momentum.

The performance was a much-needed boost for Woods, who has struggled in recent weeks. He missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open and finished tied for ninth at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.

The 44-year-old is now in a good position to challenge for the title this week and will be looking to build on his solid opening round. He tees off in the second round at 12:30 p.m. PT on Friday with Cameron Tringale and Adam Scott.
