The Wisconsin Badgers had high hopes of making a statement in their Big Ten Conference opener against Rutgers, but instead they were left with a disappointing loss at the Kohl Center. Wisconsin was unable to find their shooting touch in the first half, hitting just 31.3 percent of their shots from the field and only making four of their 15 attempts from three-point range. The Badgers were able to keep the game close thanks to a strong defensive effort, but Rutgers was able to pull away in the second half. The Scarlet Knights used a 10-0 run early in the second half to take a double-digit lead and never looked back, as they cruised to the victory.

Davison led the way for the Badgers, pouring in a team-high 19 points on 6-of-14 shooting. Ford was also solid, finishing with 15 points and 11 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Junior guard D’Mitrik Trice added 12 points and seven assists, but it was not enough to get the win.

The loss was a tough one for the Badgers, who had high hopes of making a statement in their Big Ten opener. Instead, they were left with another missed opportunity, as they fall to 6-3 on the season.
