On Saturday, the No. 6 UConn Huskies pulled out a 60-51 road win over No. 14 Villanova in a hard-fought, defensive battle. UConn was led by junior guard Megan Walker, who had a game-high 22 points, and freshman guard Evina Westbrook, who had 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists.<\/p>\n
The Huskies got off to a slow start, trailing by as many as eight points in the first quarter. But UConn’s defense kept them in the game, holding Villanova to just 19 points in the first half. UConn then used a 10-2 run to take a 28-21 lead at halftime.<\/p>\n
In the second half, UConn continued to clamp down on defense, holding Villanova to just 32 points for the game. The Huskies also got a big boost from their bench, as freshman guard Paige Bueckers scored 10 points in just 18 minutes of action.<\/p>\n
The win was UConn’s third straight, and it improves their record to 17-2 overall, 8-2 in the Big East. It was also the Huskies’ first win over a ranked opponent this season.<\/p>\n
