When Arkansas faced off against Florida in a big game on Saturday, it was the bench that powered the Razorbacks to victory. Led by Jalen Graham and Ricky Council, the Arkansas bench outscored the Gators’ reserves by 16 points in the Razorbacks’ 73-72 win.

Graham, a junior guard, was the spark the Razorbacks needed. He scored a season-high 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added five rebounds and two assists. Graham was especially effective in the second half, pouring in 11 points and helping Arkansas rally from a nine-point deficit.

Council, a freshman, also made a big impact off the bench. He scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds in just 16 minutes of action. Council was a force on the defensive end, too, blocking two shots and coming up with two steals.

The two combined for 23 points, nine rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and two steals. Their efforts were instrumental in helping the Razorbacks outscore the Gators’ reserves by 16 points in the game.

The performance from Graham and Council was a welcome sight for Arkansas, which had been struggling to find consistent production from its bench. The duo’s strong showing against Florida shows that the Razorbacks have the depth to compete with the best teams in the country.

Arkansas will need more performances like this from its bench if it is going to make a deep run in the NCAA Tournament. Graham and Council have given the Razorbacks a glimpse of what they are capable of, and if they can continue to put up big numbers off the bench, Arkansas could be a real threat come March.
