The six-time All-Star and two-time Defensive Player of the Year is returning to the team she helped lead to three WNBA Finals appearances and a championship in 2014.<\/p>\n<p>Griner, 31, was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 WNBA Draft and has been a cornerstone of the Mercury franchise ever since. She has led the team in scoring in each of the past five seasons, averaging 19.2 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game over that span.<\/p>\n<p>Griner&#8217;s return to Phoenix is a huge boost for the Mercury, who have missed the playoffs in each of the last two seasons. With Griner back in the fold, the team will look to get back to their winning ways and make a run at the WNBA title.<\/p>\n<p>Griner&#8217;s return also means that the Mercury will have one of the most formidable frontcourts in the league, with Griner and All-Star center DeWanna Bonner forming a formidable duo. Griner and Bonner have played together since 2013 and have developed a strong chemistry on the court.<\/p>\n<p>Griner&#8217;s return to the Mercury is a huge plus for the team, and it will be exciting to see her back on the court in 2021.
